For most Brides looking to keep to a Wedding budget, I'm sure that you've learned that at some point you're going to have to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty! Lots of DIY couples today tend to spend the majority of their budget on food and location, often leaving little cash left over for items such as your Dress, Flowers, table decor etc.

Now, anyone who has ever shopped for a Wedding dress knows that to find a dress for under $500, your embellishment choices are typically sequence, polyester toole, or more sequence! So for the brides out there looking for something that's not quite so "flashy", try this idea on for size!

Appliaué Your Way, by Kayte Terry, is a wonderful new how-to book, giving you a step-by-step guide, on how to create handmade embellishments such as fabric roses and much, much more! So while most brides are on hiatus from wedding planing for the rest of the year, I just couldn't help giving a little plug for my new collection of holiday cards! You can check out these darling little dancing mitten cards, and find others just like it at my Foosie Design Online Shop.

These blank folded Holiday Cards are sold in packages of 12 or as a single card. Packages of 12 go for $20.00 and single cards go for $2.00. Brown Bag Vintage

Wanting to plan a green wedding? Well I have one word for you, vintage! Now I know that we've all been beat over the head recently with the whole "green" thing, and thankfully it's looking like it's here to stay. We've successfully worked new words like "earth friendly", "eco chic", and "green" into our daily dialogue, and I've decided that it's time to add an old word back into the mix, and it's "vintage".

One of the best tools that we have against waste is the ability to reuse, and that's the name of the game when it comes to vintage finds. I stumbled across this fabulous shop on Etsy called Brown Bag Vintage. If you're planning a more casual affair, this shop houses some of the most stylish and chic vintage wears around! They offer an array of vintage dresses, shoes and accessories that would be perfect for a modern day bride looking to to not only cut down on waste, but cost as well. Most of the shop listings fall well below the $50 mark providing guilt free shopping on so many levels!

Check out Brown Bag Vintage and other vintage sellers on Etsy.com

FOOSIE DESIGN MATCH UP: Pair one of these fab vintage finds with the Annabelle & Marcus wedding invitation by Foosie Design. Throw some hurricane lanterns on the table, hang some tea lights in the trees, and cue up the fireflies!

Pumpkin Picking

After a long, and absolutely gorgeous summer out here in the Pacific Northwest, I'm finally accepting that it's time to put away the flip-flops and settle into the Fall!! If you're planning a Fall Wedding, what better way to embrace this fabulous season than to celebrate the rich colors that come along with it. From the turning leaves to the pumpkins and gourds, color inspiration is all around and ripe for the picking!

I decided to look to none other than the master on this one, as I stumbled across some beautiful spreads from the Martha Stewart Weddings Fall 2009 issue. It's incredible how the color orange can warm up just about any setting. Pair it with a touch of honey or gold and a warm neutral, add the glow from the candles, and your guests aren't going to want to leave!

QUICK TIPS: Colors like gold, honey, and orange are known to make people feel comfortable and warm. This color palette is not only great for a cozy event setting, but it would be spectacular in your dining room as well! These warm and inviting colors will stimulate your quests appetite and open up the conversation. Cool colors like blue and gray will decrease your appetite and make you more quiet and tranquil, which makes it the perfect pallet for a bedroom or bathroom.

Jenny Yoo Collection

The Jenny Yoo Collection offers Bridesmaid Dresses and Wedding Dress Alternatives for stylish and modern brides looking to satisfy their taste without maximizing their budget! These beautifully designed dresses offer a simple elegance while making a huge impact. My favorite thing about the Jenny Yoo Collection is the natural fabric used in the construction of the dresses. From Lace to Eastern Silk Shantung, the collection is not only fashion forward, but forward thinking!

While shopping for my own wedding dress up in Portland, Oregon with a girlfriend one day, I stumbled across this fabulous dress shop in South West Portland called the English Department, which happens to carry the Jenny Yoo Collection. Needless to say, I bought the first dress that I tried on! In Addition to Jenny Yoo, the English Department carries Vera Wang's Maids Collection and several others. The owner of the Shop, Elizabeth Dye also designs and crafts her own collection of stunning wedding dresses, and offers customs services as well.
